Dear all,

I'm a 3rd year DPsych student from Victoria University, Australia.

I would like to invite you (if male and above 18) to participate in an online research on male body image. (If you are female, please pass this on to your male friends.)

An Internet Study: The relationships between men's self-reported physical attributes, body image, self-esteem and internet dating.

There has been quite a lot of research conducted on women's body image and we have a reasonable understanding of the types of factors that impact on women's body image and that ultimately lead to disorders like Anorexia and Bulimia Nervosa. However, we know very little about men's body image and the factors that impinge on the way males think about their bodies. Consequently we also know very little about how this impacts on men's health.

Do you want to do something about it?


If so, you are invited to take part in a research project that will focus exclusively on men's body image. Previous research has highlighted the impact of men's physical attributes on body image and how men perceive their own body. The purpose of this study is to further explore the relationship between physical qualities of men, their body image and self-esteem, using an Internet sample.

All men above the age of 18, who have at least basic literacy in English, are invited to participate in this study. If possible, please have a tape measure ready.

The questionnaire consists of 62 mostly multiple-choice questions and should take approximately 15 minutes to complete. Your responses will remain anonymous and no identifying information will be collected. You are free to withdraw from this study at any time.

i hurt my knee severely and cant run, jog, or jump in any form. ive been grounded so to speak for almost three months now and feel every ounce of v8 and broccoli i eat. i cant keep expanding having nothing to do about it. i cant afford to see a specialist and the pain is so blinding its impossible to walk after running even a short distance. i need a workout that will help keep things at bay and a food log that would blow away a stick bug.

I'm on the master cleanse and I'm still working out an hour a day. I hope this tones my bod nicely and burns xtra calories :)~

Tommarow morn: 45 min. elliptical, 20 min abs. triceps and lunges....yayyy!

Diet Questions.

So, I had a question for the community here.
I've been reading posts and been getting into a decent workout routine as of late. Thanks to school, mostly, but what I go about doing is:
On Mondays Wednesdays and Fridays: 20 minutes of running, 100ish ab-crunches, around 50-100 lunges, around 50ish pushups, then after classes (about 4 hours later), a 2.5 mile jog.
On tuesdays and thursdays: about 15 minutes of stretching and warming up, 35 crunches, two sets of 20 twisting cruches (one for either side), 30 minutes of a random group sport, and after maybe 4ish hours, a 2.5 mile run.

I'm thinking this is a fairly decent workout, at least for what I can manage on my schedule anyway, but I was incredibly depressed when about 3 weeks into the routine I checked my weight and I found out I'd gained 5 pounds. What I'm really trying to so is lose my gut and maybe build some muscle along the way and I'm thinking curbing my diet is the solution to this. I usually have two slices of toasted bread with jam for breakfast, two small dannon or yoplait smoothies and some fruit for lunch, and maybe a plate of rice or some naan bread and curry for dinner.

Should I be changing something in my diet to help me trying to lose fat? Eat less, have breakfast after my morning workout? What am I doing wrong here?

okay so my anorexias starting to get worse again and as a result ive started to do more exercise in the night like i used to do before, for now its only 200 sit ups a night, Am thinking about running but im lacking motivation at the mo  = (  x why do my friends all stay so thin without doing exercise???? puzzles me
